Arkeedah: Why did you chose this line of work? What is it that drew you to the beauty industry?
Cynthia : This line of work chose me at a very early age I found out that I had a passion for this and I never seen myself wanting to be anything else. There are a couple things that drew me more and more to this industry. When I first begin to do hair I had a client that came into the salon and said she was going through a situation and she just kept crying and wanted me to cut all her hair off.She was so down emotionally and I didn't know how to comfort her. To make the long story short I spoke into her life with encouraging words and gave her a cut that fits her facial shape and she just turn around in the chair and said "You save my life''. At that moment I realize that I have the ability to change someone inside and out.
Arkeedah:What inspires you?
Cynthia:There are alot of things that inspires me. Making people feel good about their self and knowing that I have the ability to change someones image. The international stylist in this industry like Ursula Stephens and Kimberly Kimble inspire me that I can challenge the world with my gift the everyday client that sits in my chair inspires me to want to come to work. if you have a passion for some things, sometimes its the little things that move you.

Arkeedah:Which iconic hairstyles do you love the most?
Cynthia:From Victoria Beckham edgy inverted bob to Farrah Fawcett flips to Rhianna pixie cut or Halle Berry cuts. These women brought them to the mainstream and kept us mesmerized. I remember times when I had to do a Rhianna cut 10 times a day. Theses styles inspired explicit instruction at the salon.

Arkeedah:Are there any type of products you would advise people to stay away from?
Cynthia:Yes! Any type of box relaxers or do it yourself color kits. I get clients that come to the salon with calcium buildup from these box relaxers because they don't know how to properly relax and I have to fix colors because it came out wrong. Please leave it to the Professionals!

Arkeedah:What are some styling don'ts?
Cynthia: Don't color and relax on the same day yourself!, Do not use excessive amount of heat daily without heat protection, don't go two to three weeks without shampooing your hair if you went swimming. Also avoid using hard spritz like "pump it up" for the use of free flowing hairstyles .
