Arkeedah: How did you get your start in the industry?

Darnayle Mizrahi:
I initially started out with an agency to get me small jobs to get my foot in the door. I'm a Celebrity Hair and Wardrobe Stylist and knowing my personality, hair styling skill and eye for fashion; I knew that in networking, those small jobs would graduate to the bigger ones. I also went to tons of Networking Mixers here in Atlanta. I met a lot of Artists, Management, Publicists, other Celebrity Stylists, Celebrity Make-Up Artists, etc. From those relationships the referrals came and from good work, the requests for me started to come. In Atlanta its DEFINITELY about WHO you know. Currently, I run my own business (Urban Sheek Styling Agency) as a freelance Celebrity Stylist. We staff Hairstylist, Make-Up Artists and Wardrobe Stylists for travel and local projects.

Arkeedah: Who are some of your favorite clients you've worked with?

Darnayle Mizrahi: Ive enjoyed working with all the "big named" clients (Tiny & Toya, Real Housewives of Atlanta, Frankie & Neffe, Mike Vick, Karyn Greer( 11-Alive News), Eva Pigford, etc) But, I would say my FAVORITES are my new Artists that I see growing and making huge moves right before my eyes from the ground up. (The OMG Girlz, Sha Dixon (Tips & Tea), Scotty ATL (Block ENT-BadBoy South), Antonio Dye, Alja Jackson (Interscope Records), Bonita Canady, Nina Ross (Rovalike Records), Tiffany Michael, Shawn Cartel, REB, Ashley Angel.) Some of the artists I have even done comp work for because I believed in their project and to go from free work to their Management paying me whatever I want, its a great feeling.

Arkeedah:What are some of your favorite designers?

Darnayle Mizrahi:
OMG..I have sooo many...lol. But my FAVORITES would definitely be : Alexander McQueen (RIP), Viktor & Rolf, Duke & Dutchess, Fendi, Comme des Garcons, Thierry Mugler, Gareth Pugh, Jeremy Scott, John Galliano, Gaultier, Jean-Baptiste Rautureau, Jean-Michel Cazabat, Versace and 3.1 Phillip Lim. (I have about 10 others but I don't wanna sound like a Label whore...lol)

Arkeedah: I think you have an amazing sense of style, so it only seems fitting that you ended up styling some of the most fashionable, and famous! How would you describe your signature look?

Darnayle Mizrahi: Awwww thank you. (smiling) I would definitely describe my signature look as "Urban Chic" (hence the name of my Agency "Urban Sheek") I like a very URBAN (street) look but I wear alot of High Fashion pieces. This is where the "chic" comes in. I personally like to mix urban streetwear and High fashion labels to get one signature look. Some people call it Dope Boy fresh.... But "Urban Sheek" sounds so much better..lol.

Arkeedah: What is your favorite store to shop in for work and what is your favorite store for just yourself?

Darnayle Mizrahi:
For work, It depends on who I'm dressing. I don't believe in ONE particular store to get wardrobe. I've shopped everywhere from Thrift Stores, to local malls, to Exclusive Boutiques and Designer Showrooms for clients. It all depends on the look that we are trying to accomplish. When shopping for myself, the same rule applies for the most part. I have a few stores that I frequent and they know me by name and will call me when they get items in. They would be: BBC, Jeffrey New York & Seven New York (NYC), Fruition (Las Vegas), and H. Lorenzo & Fred Segal (Beverly Hills)

Arkeedah: What are your favorite trends this season?

Darnayle Mizrahi: I love fashion so what some people think are new trends alot of us have been doing for years. I love fabrics, metals, fur, over exaggerated cuts, High Fashion Labels, nasty Foot & Eyewear, Bags & Belts, Ties & Timepieces, Urban Street Wear, High Fashion Streetwear, sneakers, Vintage pieces, Haute Couture as well as Ready to wear. Some trends that end, If i like It i will still do it. Style is knowing who you are.

Arkeedah: What is your favorite city for shopping?

Darnayle Mizrahi:Osaka, Japan definitely. Milan is #2 and Paris is #3. (then NYC, Vegas and LA)...lol

Arkeedah: Who qualifies as a true fashion icon?

Darnayle Mizrahi: Tom Ford, Madonna, Michael Jackson, Liberace and Lady GaGa. When you have the power to bring back an iconic house (Gucci) from near bankruptcy (Tom Ford) you qualify as a Fashion Icon. When you start a wave of fashion staples that influence billions of people to do imitate & emulate your style (Madonna, Micheal Jackson, Liberace & Lady Gaga) you definitely qualify as a Fashion Icon. The impact you make on fashion qualifies you.

Arkeedah: What do you enjoy most about being a stylist?

Darnayle Mizrahi
: Seeing a little piece of me in everyone that I style (Hair or Wardrobe) is what I enjoy most.
