If you’ve ever wondered about RMS Beauty—the cool, cultish makeup line carried in niche boutiques from Woodley & Bunny (Brooklyn) to Colette (Paris)—you’re not alone. In spite of its high-profile following, which includes everyone from actress Zoë Saldana to supermodel Gisele Bündchen, the super-flattering collection of eye shadows, luminizers, and multitasking lip-and-cheek colors has flown distinctly under the radar since its birth nearly three years ago. Which practically begs the question: What—or who—exactly is RMS?
As it turns out, those three little letters stand for Rose-Marie Swift, the editorial makeup artist who, for 30 years, has worked with some of fashion’s top photographers, stylists, and models on set. Swift’s interest in what we put into—and onto—our bodies got her thinking a few years back. “Just because it’s organic doesn’t mean it’s high quality,” she says of her subsequent search to find aesthetically pleasing, authentically green makeup that met her professional standards. http://www.rmsbeauty.com/
