Fittingly named DJ Princess Cut, the Southside Atlanta born and bred turntablist is definitely royalty, especially when it comes to her majestic spinning skills. Her musical palette is just as diverse as her high-profile clientele, from touring with Goodie Mob, The Outlawz and the Dream to being commissioned by Adidas, Neiman Marcus and Atlanta’s High Museum of Art. Known for her sexy yet bohemian vibe, the DJ’ing diva was invited to compete in Season 2 of the BET DJ competition Master of the Mix where she received rave reviews from Amber Rose, Kid Capri and Vikter Duplaix as the lone female. I was able to speak with her to see what inspires her awesome style!
Arkeedah:How would you describe your personal style?
DJ Princess Cut: I would describe my style as fun, flirty and sexy. My clothes really express my personality and I like to let my mood dictate my choices.
Arkeedah: Where do you like to shop?
DJ Princess Cut: I like to shop online (sites like etsy.com), and at various boutiques because I don't want to see anybody else in the same thing I'm wearing. I enjoy working with personal stylists and upcoming designers. I like to create looks that are exclusive to me.
Arkeedah: What inspires your style?
DJ Princess Cut: Even before I became Neiman Marcus' (Atlanta) official DJ a number of years ago, I can definitely appreciate and am inspired by high-fashion but I also like some vintage. I like to put unexpected looks together. It's like when I DJ, I might play Jeezy and then mix in a little Joan Jett. I dress the same way, always adding in the unexpected.
