With energy, attitude and a magnetic presence, few debut artists will make an impression quite like Gloss Da Boss, an Atlanta native who is known to spit a mean 16 on one track and belt out a celebratory anthem on another, all the while strutting her stuff in 5-inch Louboutins. Since she was a kid, the exotic beauty had a love for all things shiny, which included lip-gloss, hence her stage moniker. I was able to speak with her to see what inspires her unique style!
Arkeedah: How would you describe your personal style?
Gloss Da Boss: I switch up depending on my mood. One day I’ll have on my 5 inches next day I’ll sport my kicks but overall I’d definitely describe my style as glossy, fun and edgy, basically an extension of my personality, which also translates into the music I create.
Arkeedah: Where do you like to shop?
Gloss Da Boss: I shop everywhere. I do a lot of online shopping. I like everything from the small boutiques to major chain stores like Neiman’s, Bergdorf Goodman, Zara, H&M…I really like clothes and dressing and believe that your outfit doesn’t have to cost a lot. When you have a good sense of style you can wear anything and look like a bag of money.
Arkeedah: What inspires your style?
Gloss Da Boss: Number 1 is my mood! Next I would have to say my mom. She introduces me to a lot of looks and she’s always been into fashion since before I was born. I also get inspiration from traveling, international fashion magazines and blogs.
Arkeedah: What's the best fashion advice you've received?
Gloss Da Boss: It’s better to be overdressed than under-dressed. Just go ahead and look fabulous despite what others may suggest!
Arkeedah: What are your must-have items in your closet and why?
Gloss Da Boss: My accessories because I believe accessories can make or break an outfit. Gotta have my heels because I love heels and I think they are sexy and fun. Also, I’m short so they give me some height, which I like. My purses are a necessity because I always need something to carry my many tubes of lip-glosses. I love all kinds of bags- big hobo-style bags and handheld styles, cross bodies and clutches are a must for nighttime. If you’re a girl like me you always need your purse. My life is in there!
