When we are in a state of transition, we tend to
search for THE perfect advice when it pertains to our purpose. Eliminating fear,
distractions and being disciplined are just a few of the most common suggestions
when it comes to walking in purpose. Sometimes we beat ourselves up because we
are receiving great advice yet struggle with putting them into action. I want to
remind you that the ONLY way to successfully walk in your purpose is to seek
Christ first and adopt His spirit. Being bold, confident, diligent, loving,
faithful all come from the Spirit of God [Rd Gal 5:22].
When you spend time with God and seek Him first, you
adopt His character. Whether you are clear or confused about your purpose-
SUCCESS is the result of time spent with God. Similar to nutrition, when you eat
right- you look good & feel good. That's the same "cause & affect" result
that comes with spending time with God. Honestly, until you receive clear
direction from God your only purpose is to seek God and feel His love, peace
& joy. That is truly the ultimately blessing and the purpose for our
existence here on earth.
Sometimes we feel obligated to take matters into our
own hands and begin operating in our own power. We over-commit ourselves because
we think working for "so & so" will bring us favor. In some cases- yes, God
will direct you to work hard and serve people He will USE to elevate you but
when we attempt to operate in our power- we neglect the REAL power that releases
PERFECT favor. We simply lose our "IT" factor.
All the advice in the world will never amount to
spending personal time in prayer, worship and bible study. Even Jesus
demonstrated the significance of prayer in the bible. Matthew 3:16 states, "As
soon as Jesus was baptized, he went up out of the water. At that moment-heaven
was opened and he saw the Spirit of God descending like a dove and lighting on
him. And a voice from heaven said, 'This is my Son, whom I love; with him I am
well pleased." Jesus was a perfect man but He came to show us the way so
therefore we must walk in His image and renew ourselves in Holy Spirit so that
the heavens can open up and the Spirit of God can descend on us. The only way to
renew yourself in Holy Spirit is through prayer, worship and bible
study.
We also see this in Mark 1:35, "Very early in the
morning, while it was still dark, Jesus got up, left the house and went off to a
solitary place, where he prayed. Simon and his companions went to look for him,
and when they found him, they exclaimed; 'Everyone is looking for you!" When we
spend time in prayer, receiving Gods Light, receiving His power and overall His
IT factor- OPPORTUNITIES COME LOOKING FOR US! Jesus had people searching for Him
because of His presence, His love, His inspiration, His wisdom and His Light. So
what does this look like in our own lives? When we seek after God-we wont have
to beg for work; when we seek after God- we wont have to beg for clients; when
we seek after God- we wont have to beg for dates:-)
Regardless of how many books you read or how many
relationships you have- you cannot fulfill a God-vision without God-power. Jesus
was able to feed 5000 because of His power. The disciples couldn't feed any of
people without going through Him first [Rd Matthew 14:13]. This bread represents
your purpose [purpose is what you receive
from God privately and illustrate through your gift publicly]. The
higher you want to elevate, the more time you need to spend with God. That is
the only way to get the IT factor.
