CocoaFab.com, founded by Angela Burt-Murray, former
editor-in-chief of Essence magazine, and leading digital strategist Shelly
Jones Jennings, announced today that it has formed a digital content
development partnership with actress Malinda Williams. Under the
content partnership they will co-produce original hair, beauty and
fashion-focused videos for CocoaFab.com. The first project premieres today—a “do-it-yourself”
(DIY) hair care focused video series titled “Mane Taming with Malinda Williams.” The content partnership also launches the campaign
“Love is in the Hair” (#loveisinthehair), to spark conversation about the
relationship Black Women have with their hair and to support a healthy hair
movement. The first episode of “Mane Taming with Malinda Williams” can be found
here: http://cocoafab.com/malinda-williams-hair-videos/.
“We’re so excited to partner with Malinda to
develop a new slate of beauty and fashion videos and to launch the
love is in the hair campaign. Malinda, who relaxes, colors, cuts and styles her
own hair, brings so much to this project as she shares her red-carpet ready tips
in "Mane Taming,” said Burt-Murray. “And
we're thrilled ORS supports our vision for
Malinda's first video series and the online community of DIY hair
divas."
“Mane Taming with Malinda
Williams” is born from Williams’ long-time passion for hairstyling: growing up
she watched her mom do hair out of their home in New Jersey. The actress, who
does her own hair, attended the Hair Fashion Institute in Plainfield, N.J.
Williams worked two different salons over five years, one owned by her aunt,
while simultaneously building her acting career.
Known for always sporting
cool and sexy short hairstyles and for her role on the hit series likes Soul
Food, Williams will share hair care tips for achieving looks like
hers. In each episode Williams will demonstrate how she styles her
hair from start to finish and will cover techniques that include relaxing,
wrapping, coloring and trimming hair at home. The videos will be posted to
CocoaFab.com in eight parts, hosted by Williams, over four weeks—running
Tuesdays and Thursdays. In the first episode of “Mane Taming with Malinda
Williams,” posted today, Williams will show viewers how to get one of her
signatures styles—how the hair is prepped for styling after blow-drying, how she
flat irons it and which products she uses.
