DIY: Veiled Beanie

So technically I'm late on this trend, Its cool I don't follow them anyway! Jil Sander premiered the Veiled Beanie's in her Spring 2012 Runway Show. Rihanna and Miley Cyrus are a few celebrities that have been spotting rocking it. Right now I'm wearing box braids and I thought this would be a cute way to spice up my look. I found some easy instructions via American Eagle Blog. First thing tomorrow I'm headed to the Fabric Store.

You’ll need:

  • a slouchy knit beanie
  • 9″ x 24″ French veil netting
  • embroidery thread of a similar color
  • an embroidery needle
  • a pair of scissors
 Step One: Gather your materials.
Step Two: Cut the netted fabric into a piece that is almost half the height of the hat and 3 inches longer in width than the circumference of the hat.

Step Three: Wrap netting around the hat. The netting will overlap a little
Step Four: Pin the bottom of the netting to the bottom of the beanie. Sew the netting to the bottom of the beanie, making sure you sew both pieces of netting where they overlap and the hat.

Step Five: Take the top two layers of netting and fold down to the bottom of the hat as pictured and pin down again.

Step Six: Fold the netting down again and repin.

Step Seven: Sew the folding of the netting to the hat.

Step Eight: Secure the top of netting to the front center of the hat
