Morning met the desert sky. The QUINN spring 2014 collection was
inspired by the marvels of desert dunes, burnt sands and beams of color that
dance across the horizon at dawn.
“During a recent trip to Arizona,” said Bree Telford, design director. “I saw the sun rise over the desert. It was brilliant…the golden rays shone through the vermillion and turquoise hues in such an incredible way.”
The
collection reflects the desert horizon with its sunny color palette, cactus
intarsia knits and an exclusive rainbow river print that is reminiscent of a
mirage. Architecture and art from the modernist movement also influenced the
collection. Silhouettes like the relaxed taper pants and the fit-and-flare dress
give the collection a modern 50s vibe. References to the low, flat roofs and
clean lines of mid-century buildings are seen in the angular lines of the mixed
media blazer.
“Mixed media was a driving force in this collection,” said Telford. “I love the dichotomy of taking perforated leather which is modern and tough and mixing it with something soft and feminine, like the blush-colored French Terry.”
The
collection is made up of luxury fibers such as cashmere, Italian yarns, silk,
leather and denim. Retail prices range from $58 for a modal tank to $238 for an
open back cashmere sweater. Luxe items like the ponte leather legging cost $500,
while a basket weave leather jacket runs $950.
The
collection will be available at QUINN’s two brick-and-mortar locations in the
Lower East Side of Manhattan in Naples, Florida, as well as online at
quinnshop.com. The line will also be sold at specialty stores across the nation.
