Now in its eighteenth year, Fashion Targets Breast Cancer raises money for Breakthrough Breast Cancer through the sale of branded clothes and accessories from high-street retailers including Marks & Spencer, Warehouse, Superga, River Island, Topshop, Debenhams and Laura Ashley. Since launching in the UK in 1996 the campaign has raised over £13 million for Breakthrough Breast Cancer's life-saving work.
This year's spokesmodels join Fashion Targets Breast Cancer alumni including Naomi Campbell, Claudia Schiffer, Kate Moss, Twiggy, Elle Macpherson, Gisele Bündchen and Erin O'Connor in urging the public to wear their support by buying pieces from the collection.
The campaign is particularly close to the heart of Emeli Sandé, whose friend sadly passed away from breast cancer. "I'm taking part in this year's campaign in memory of my friend Narcisse; wear your support and help make a difference in the fight against this terrible disease", the singer said.
This year is the second time that British Fashion Council ambassador Laura Bailey has supported the initiative, having also appeared in the 2006 campaign. "Fashion Targets Breast Cancer has such a fantastic heritage; taking part is an honour not only because the campaign is so iconic, but also because the work it funds is incredibly important", she said. The campaign hits billboards nationwide today, and the limited-edition pieces are also available to buy from today for six weeks only. This year the merchandise is split into three collections: pink-hued Pastel Sundae, graphic monochrome On Target and relaxed Breezy Daze. Prices range from £2 to £85, with each piece carrying a minimum donation of 30 per cent.
