Magazine's September Women's Fashion issue -- the largest issue ever in the
magazine's seven-year history -- is Danish model Freja Beha Erichsen. Amongst a
lush green backdrop, Freja wears Gucci, Isabel Marant, Chloé and more in an
editorial designed to "evoke the romantic spirit of hazy, lazy afternoons in
easy pieces and flocculent outerwear from the fall
collections." In a
correlating interview, the self-described tomboy-turned-model talks about what
she loves about her career and why her androgynous look has been
advantageous. More details
are below.
The
September Women's Fashion issue hits newsstands on Saturday, August 15
Freja On:
- Not anticipating having a modeling career: “I grew up playing soccer with the boys—quite far from reading magazines”
- What she thought during her first modeling job when the makeup artist painted a large circle around her eye: “What did I get myself into?"
- Why her androgynous look is advantageous: “I became one of the androgynous models, which wasn’t that far out of my comfort zone.”
- What she enjoys most about her modeling career: “I love the process— collaborating with the photographers, traveling and seeing different cultures. My mother always said I would regret it if I didn’t do it. And I think she was right.”
