Style Forecast: Hot Trends in 2015 and Beyond from zulily.com

2016 is right around the corner and that means wardrobe and style changes for the New Year! This year zulily.com tapped their in-house trend & fashion expert Claire Magruder to take a look at some of the most popular selling items from the past year to craft a few professional predictions for what everyone’s going to be wearing (and shopping!) for the year ahead.

A few trends that had a big year in 2015:

·         Tunics – This style dates back to the Roman Empire but it’s never been more popular! In fact, zulily sales show that tunics outsold denim items in general by almost 1750%!

·         Denim – Speaking of denim, it is one of the most classic, All-American items in your closet and seems to be a winner every year. Some of the top selling denim and chambray items on zulily in 2015 were jean jackets, skirts and dresses.

·         Seersucker – This fabric isn’t just for your husband’s summer suit anymore! Women’s dresses outsold menswear in this classic, Southern summer print and maternity wear made up 41% of all seersucker purchases on zulily this year.

A few trends to watch out for in 2016:

·         Sequins – Everyone loves a fun sequined number for New Year’s Eve, but this trend is looking to expand to year-round in 2016! Mix business with pleasure next year by incorporating a tailored, sequined pencil skirt into your wardrobe.

·         A-Line Skirts – Your grandma wore them, your mom wore them, and you’ll be wearing them in 2016! This hemline is flattering and provides a sophisticated, polished look – this style will definitely continue to dominate in the coming year.

·         Suede – In 2015, fashion from the ’70s saw a resurgence as flare jeans were all over the streets. 2016 will see this trend continue with an increase in suede throughout your wardrobe. Update the 2015 tunic trend by picking up a suede tunic to stay cutting edge.
