After Scandal's latest season finale, Kerry Washington appeared on Jimmy Kimmel Live! to dish on all the events that left fans shocked and wide-eyed. But if you're a fan of fashion, you were probably paying more attention to her outfit than her interview.
Washington strutted on stage wearing a head to toe black outfit that could make anyone green with envy. According to InStyle writer Brandi Fowler, a pregnant Washington showed off her baby bump and her well-toned legs in a ribbed, mid-thigh knit dress. She kept her accessories simple with a two plain rings with thin bands on her left hand, and on her wrist, she wore a watch with a black, leather twisted band. Even her fingernails were painted black.
After filming, she stepped out onto the streets of Los Angeles and onlookers got to see a few more additions to her outfit, including a pair of black, oversized, round sunglasses, studded in (of course) black detail. The only pop of color came from the red sole of her heels, playfully peeking out of her all black pumps as she walked along.
Later that day, Washington posted a photo of herself and tagged several of the different brands that she wore throughout the night. According to her Instagram account, the knit dress was a Cushnie et Ochs piece from the brand's Pre-Fall 2016 Commercial Collection. Her shoes were Louboutin, and the sunglasses were courtesy of Prada. And as for her jewelry, the rings were from Melissa Kaye, the watch was from Movado, and the earrings, although they went mostly unseen, she credited to EF Collection.
The name brands alone make it pretty obvious that recreating her entire look would run you a pretty penny. So if you want to grab her look for less, or if you're like Washington and you want to downplay certain areas, start by checking out some of the styes from Woman Within. Plus-sized clothes are a great resource for lose fitting dresses and tops that are usually free of restricting waists. Just a quick browse will show you how popular horizontal textures—like that of Washington's knit dress—are for plus-sized clothing inspiration. You can likely find something similar to her's that fits just as beautifully but in a much more budget-friendly package.
Now, onto her accessories. Thankfully her jewelry was minimal, so the process is even easier if you want to mirror them. Just stick to simple, thin lines and once again, keep everything black, and you should easily be able to find some pieces to reinterpret a similar look.
Her shoes on the other hand...well, you can't really recreate a Louboutin. But if you really want to try, check out Pretty Girl Science's guide to painting the bottom of the soles of your shoes. Stick to Washington's style and paint the soles of your black heels red, or try a different color to give the outfit a bit of your own personality. Even if you land close to Washington's outfit, you're sure to look absolutely fabulous.
