Goorin Bros., San Francisco's fourth-generation famed hatmakers, will the launch of the company's first-ever, high fashion capsule collection, Uncharted. The collection will debut seasonally up to four times a year and offer limited-release, specialty hats separate to the retailer's classic styles.
Debuting in select stores on December 8, 2017, "Don't Give Up The Ship" is the first themed installment of Uncharted and is inspired by the mysteries and folklore of an unexpected life at sea. This 18-piece collection sources rare and exotic materials including actual stingray and a Brazilian arapaima, an ancient, giant fish from the Amazon River. Created on a limited run, a maximum of 36 pieces were produced per style, numbered for authenticity, and expected to sell out quickly. The collection includes signature pieces of which only one or two were produced. Currently, the Uncharted label is available exclusively in-store for purchase with individual prices ranging from $120 to $700.
The majority of this inaugural collection was handcrafted by Goorin Bros. at its Newark, New Jersey factory using traditional hat making techniques that the company still preserves. Five pieces from the full line are a collaboration between Goorin Bros. and New Zealand's Hills Hats, another heritage hatmaker brand established in 1875.
