Inspired by the eclectic optimism of the 1960s, Rebecca Minkoff’s Spring 2019 presentation is all about contrasts – soft and strong, beauty and imperfection, freedom and restraint. The story of the collection is told through layers of beautiful contradictions, such as unexpected proportions, delicate fabrics, and decisive shapes.
“The 1960s were the rise of modern women’s power. They stopped giving in to traditional norms and embraced counterculture, essentially paving the way for the female attitude of today,” said Rebecca Minkoff. “We wanted to bring that same light-hearted dynamic to this season’s collection where pieces are graphic and pop with color. The looks convey candid elements, creatively capturing female multidimensionality and embodying the I AM MANY spirit of every Rebecca Minkoff woman.”
Lead Manicurist for KISS Products, Inc., Gina Edwards created a one-of-a-kind nail look for the show using KISS Salon Acrylic Natural Nails in Forbidden. Using the KISS Fan Brush and yellow, green, silver or pink polish, Edwards painted a wash of color beginning at the base of the nail fading up toward the tip. A silver accent line, created with the KISS Nail Art Paint in Silver (Gala kit), cut across the nail on a diagonal for a graphic detail. Select models also wore a full black manicure, created in minutes using imPRESS Press-on Manicure. All nails were filed into an active oval shape.
“We wanted to create a bright nail that embodied the presentation’s light-hearted spirit of optimism,” said Gina Edwards. “A nude nail like Forbidden from the KISS Salon Acrylic Natural Collection was the perfect canvas for a playful wash of color.”
