The
Summit was MC’d by Emmy-Award Winning Host, Journalist, and TV
Personality Sharon Reed who opened the event with welcoming remarks and
introduced the first group workshop ‘Intention Setting’ led by
Grammy-Nominated Producer, COO and Partner of TreeSound Studios, Chief
Creative Officer of the Retnuh Agency, and Founder of EarthGirl World,
“Mali” Hunter. The day continued with a Fireside Chat centered around
fundraising featuring Bumble’s COO Sarah Jones Simmer, Detroit Blows
Co-Founder and CEO Nia Batts, and President of Alice Elizabeth Gore,
moderated by Managing Director of The Blackstone Group Kelley Morrell.
Attendees also experienced group networking, a workshop titled ‘Making
the Most of Mentorship’ led by James Beard Award-winning Chef Anne
Quatrano and President of Solutions Marketing Group Carmen Jones, a
‘Doubling Down on Support’ Fireside Chat featuring “Double Down: Bet on
Yourself and Succeed on Your Terms” authors and sisters Antoinette
Clarke and Tricia Clarke-Stone, moderated by CEO and Co-Founder of The
Gathering Spot Ryan Wilson, and a ‘Make Your Move’ Hackathon with
students from Spelman College. From the motivational to the educational,
the Summit offered attendees a range of programming for wherever they
are in their careers.
The Summit culminated with a Keynote conversation with Serena Williams moderated by CEO, ESSENCE Communications, Inc. Michelle Ebanks. Throughout the conversation, the two discussed the changing landscape of networking and mentorship and the challenges entrepreneurs face today.
